The group meets monthly to discuss a book proposed by members for the coming academic year. The group leader(s) select from the books proposed to ensure that the books considered over the year are different in focus, content and style. The books read are generally, but not entirely, fiction with a mix of past classics and contemporary literature. The book selected for discussion is introduced by the person who proposed it after which there is a lively discussion followed by tea, coffee and biscuits.
In December and August, we meet socially for lunch at a venue in town which provides the opportunity to get to know each other better as well as discuss other books etc.
We meet at Friends Meeting House, Queens Parade Harrogate in a large airy room where members can sit comfortably at a safe social distance. It is a flat walk from the town centre, the train and bus station. There is also plenty of car parking available for three hours free on the nearby streets or to the rear of the building.
