Exercise and Fitness takes place once a week on Tuesday afternoons. Led by a trained tutor for an hour each week. These sessions take place at the Jennyfield Styan Centre. For more information email Val Cooke

Tai Chi is also taken by a trained teacher - and happens at the Jennyfield Styan Centre on Wednesday afternoons. It aims to stimulate by exercises and movement, a feeling of wellbeing, calm and relaxation. Again more information is available by email from Val Cooke


Lunching Ladies

We are a group of ladies who meet for lunch on the first Monday in the month at Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate.   It is a simple and pleasant social occasion where we meet, chat over lunch and possibly make new friends.   The cost is £21 which includes two courses plus tea/coffee and mints.   If you are interested in trying us out one Monday please contact me Brenda Marlow.


White Rose Squares

One of our members takes part in American Square Dancing, with the White Rose Squares, and has provided this invitation:

Beginners sessions are run at our regular Sunday evening club nights in Pannal, starting on Sunday 18th January 2026


Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club

Some members of the Painting for Pleasure group are also members of The Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club.

The club meets on Thursday evenings between 7 and 9 p.m. from the first Thursday in September running through to the last Thursday in June. We have a structured programme of activities throughout the year including: demonstrations, life models, still life, workshops, talks and slide shows.  New members of all abilities are welcome with no prerequisites just a love of painting. It's a great way to further your interest in art and also to make new friends.

This is a convivial group who meet each Thursday morning in the winter months for interesting talks. Their programme runs from October to the end of April.


Arts Society Nidd Valley

We are a Harrogate-based evening group aimed at helping you learn about and enjoy the arts - painting, sculpture, architecture and much more! One of the 365 local Societies under the umbrella of The Arts Society, a leading arts education charity with a global network of local societies which bring people together through a shared curiosity of the arts. 

We are a friendly Society offering you a warm welcome with:

  • 10 monthly illustrated talks presented by high quality, nationally accredited speakers - meeting the 3rd Monday of the month at Christ Church on the Stray, HG1 4SW
  • a series of organised visits to galleries, museums and places of interest 
  • an opportunity to socialise with others before the talk over refreshments and a 2nd hand book sale 
  • a monthly newsletter for members to help you up to date with what we are doing and what happening locally 
  • a quarterly magazine and monthly online content from The Arts Society.

Bishop Monkton Croquet Club

Our Club has about 60 members from Bishop Monkton, Ripon, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge and surrounding villages. We have excellent facilities with a club house and two very good croquet lawns.

We run a full programme of friendly matches and competitive play as well a strong social membership playing throughout the season, most days of the week, from about April to October.

New members are welcome and we offer dedicated coaching sessions.
