The group meets weekly for 2 hours, currently on Friday mornings, at members' houses.

During the first hour or so we have a free-flowing conversation in French about anything and everything. We don’t pre-plan sessions, as the aim is to encourage natural conversation in French.

There then follows a break for coffee and biscuits, and afterwards we might simply continue the conversation, although previously during this period we have watched the French news, done a simple French quiz, read and translated a French book, or looked at an item that a member may have brought to the group for discussion.

The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging.

There are currently mixed levels of ability in the group, but the format of the group is that a minimum level of intermediate conversational ability is required, in order to move as many members as possible towards a more advanced level.
